MSLR Index.

We are located in Wetheringsett, near Stowmarket in Suffolk. Unfortunately there is little public transport during the week, a bus from Stowmarket, and none on Sundays. By road you need to travel on the A140 main Ipswich - Norwich road. About 14 miles north of Ipswich and 28 miles south of Norwich, you will find brown tourist signs directing you to the railway. A good landmark if you are unfamiliar with the area is the huge TV mast at Mendlesham just a mile or so south of where you turn off for the railway.

Free parking is available in front of the museum. As Wetheringsett is a very quiet country village we particularly ask you to drive quietly through the village, observe the speed limits and to use our car park rather than the streets.

We look forward to greeting you and hope you enjoy visiting us. Have a cup of tea before you go and tell us what you thought of our little corner of the country.

If you have time, especially if you are staying in the area, you could add the Bressingham Steam Museum, the Mechanical Music Museum in Cotton and the Museum of East Anglian Life in Stowmarket to your itinerary. That way you can spend a whole day in the mid 20th century and earlier before returning to the hurly burly of the 21st!
