It has just been confirmed that both preserved North Eastern Railway Y7 0-4-0Ts will be appearing and in steam at the Middy’s Steam Gala on the 9th and 10th September. Bringing the two Y7s together for the first time for years (if ever?) is another coup for MSLR Loco Superintendent John Durrant.
120 year old NER no. 1310 will be coming to Brockford in time for the railway’s Bank Holiday Bash and will be running on August 27th and 28th August. Both will be running together, joining the resident Cockerill tram and Bagnall no. 2565, at the Gala two weeks later when all four locos will be in steam.
“LNER no. 985 has been with us for just over a year now and has proved very popular with visitors and crews – and really looks the part. So we thought just supposing we could have two and I am very pleased to say the Middleton Railway could see the opportunity for a unique pairing too”, commented John.
