As a charity, the Middy relies on donations of both time and money for operations and maintenance. Please consider sponsoring the completion of Aspall Halt station, or sponsor a boiler stay or stays to help complete the refurbishment of Hudswell Clarke no. 1604. Both these projects are well advanced and completion will ensure we can run our heritage line for years to come. Our third new appeal is for building a carriage shed at Dovebrook to protect our Victorian carriages, all over 100 years old and of largely wooden construction, from the ravages of the English weather.
Thanks in advance for your help.
We are running three specific appeals currently, the Aspall Halt Station Appeal, 1604 Restoration Project and the new Dovebrook Carriage Shed appeal.
Aspall Halt Station Appeal
The MSLR track extension project has now reached the end of the line, more than doubling the length of the Middy to approximately 1km.
We are now fund raising to complete the building of Aspall Halt and landscaping the picnic area around the station.
1604 Restoration Project
Help keep steam alive on the ‘Middy’ with the restoration of our own locomotive, Hudswell Clarke no. 1604.
Dovebrook Carriage Shed Appeal
We’re raising £100k to build a carriage shed at Dovebrook to protect our 100-year-old Victorian coaches from harsh weather.
Phase 1 is the preparing the groundwork and laying a new turnout and siding, approximately half the budget. We have an incredibly generous match funding offer for this work doubling any contributions we receive.
Phase 2 is the construction of the shed itself.
