Pre-visit information

VISITOR INFORMATION 2021 – Updated 19th July 2021

Our staff and volunteers continue to work hard to ensure visitors have a safe and enjoyable day.

The Government has provided advisory guidance on how people can manage the risks to themselves and to others. The following behaviours are beneficial:

1. Meeting in well-ventilated areas where possible, such as outdoors or indoors with windows open.

2. Wearing a face covering where you come into contact with people you don’t normally meet, especially in enclosed and crowded spaces.

3. Washing your hands with soap and water or using hand sanitiser regularly throughout the day.

4. Covering your nose and mouth when you cough and sneeze.

5. Staying at home if unwell, to reduce the risk of passing on other illnesses onto friends, family, colleagues, and others in your community.

6. Considering individual risks, such as clinical vulnerabilities and vaccination status.

Face Covering

Out of respect and for the continued welfare of our visitors, staff and exhibitors, face coverings are required, except those exempt, to be worn in specified indoor areas around the site.

Hand sanitiser

Hand sanitising stations are sited around the railway and you are encouraged to use them regularly and for example, before you enter the shop.

Tickets

Tickets are available to purchase on the day on the gate or you can pre-book from https://www.mslr.org.uk/book-tickets/

Acceptable documents include Letter/notice of entitlement for Disability Living Allowance or PIP, Letter from your doctor, Blue parking badge or Freedom Pass, DID card or Access card.  If you have any questions regarding proof of entitlement please email events@mslr.org.uk before your visit.

‘We’re Good to Go’

We have carried out risk assessments for all areas and activities on our railway in accordance with Government regulations and advice and have been awarded the Visit England accreditation – We’re Good To Go.  By maintaining these standards we will continue to respect the welfare of our visitors and staff.

For all pre-booked visitors using our booking system, we hold a record of visitors contact details for a period of 21 days from the date of their visit.  We hold this data so that it is available to NHS Test and Trace if requested.

A QR code for the NHS COVID-19 app is displayed on the site.  This code is readily available for visitors to scan on their arrival or contact details can be manually recorded.
