The Middy Bar open until late October
At the end of 2022 steaming season the bar has had another successful year. Having experienced one of the hottest driest summers, the Middy Bar has been a destination for our museum visitors who have enjoyed cool refreshing drinks including continental style Aperol Spritzers, crisp Chilean wines, inspiring Pale Ales from local breweries, and a full range of low alcohol beers.
Our Friday night openings have been an even bigger success this year; at the end of the week a visit to the café and a drink at the Middy Bar is a regular haunt of the local community. The Bar’s unique atmosphere has attracted customers from as far as Holland, Germany, America, Ireland, Scotland and even the Midlands of England!
Income from the Bar – now retitled ‘The Middy Bar’ as opposed to ‘The Kitchener Arms’ – has allowed the MSLR to proceed with many projects and contributed to the museum’s survival through the Covid years of 2020/21.
We are looking forward to a bright future and many reminiscences of times past and celebrations to come over a pint or two. The museum is now closed but the bar remains until late October so come and join us on a Friday night, all are welcome.
