Y7 Progress
Work on the Y7 is progressing at a steady rate since the boiler was lifted into the frames. Backhead fittings are being overhauled and prepared for fitting. See the picture attached showing shiny brass components.
The water tanks and boiler cladding have been m

Restoration Shed so we now have all of the Y7 components in one place making the task of seeing what-goes-where a bit easier.

The water tanks have a lot of internal corrosion that needs to be cleaned out before fitting so the tank tops have been unbolted and lifted clear to give better access to the interior. and the tanks are laid on their sides to clear the corrosion. This is a particularly dirty job as can be evidenced from the attached picture of our latest volunteer recruit Simon at work..
.
Once the corrosion has been removed the tanks interiors will be painted and the tops re-fitted prior to them being repainted externally. They will then be ready for installation on the frames.

Onward and upward …
