Look what we’ve got for Christmas!

Very pleased to announce that we have an additional guest locomotive  for our Christmas steaming season. 99 year old ‘Marcia’ from the Kent & East Sussex Railway will be joining our stable of locos, arriving in mid November in time for the Vintage & Bygones Fair & Exhibition and  Christmas and New Year operations.

The tiny ‘Marcia’ was built in 1923 at the Atlas Works in Bristol by Peckett & Sons (works No. 1631), which makes her 99 years old. Weighing barely 12 tons, with driving wheels of only 2’3” diameter and outside cylinders, she has the look of a narrow gauge locomotive and will be the smallest ever engine to work on the Middy.

Despite her size and weight ‘Marcia’ should be able to handle our passenger trains, but will usually be topped and tailed with a diesel especially if we encounter ‘wrong kind of’ weather conditions affecting the rails.

As you can see ‘Marcia’ is a delightful little 0-4-0T and will afford excellent photo opportunities on the MSLR. Why not come and see her on 27th November at the Vintage & Bygones Exhibition & Fair or on New Year’s Day at Steam & Light?

NB We won’t be able to accommodate ‘walk ins’ on Santa Special days as we are completely fully booked.
