Middy track extension completed

The Mid-Suffolk Light Railway’s extension plan took a huge advance at the end of January when track laying to the site of Aspall Halt station  was completed by the TES2000 team and Middy Volunteers.

The Middy route is now just under 1 kilometre, but this is still just over twice as long as the previous track length. The next steps are to build the station platform and progress the application for the Transport & Works Act order so we can run public trains beyond the footpath at the bottom of the incline towards the new station. At present the railway is only allowed to run works trains past this point, but will help enormously to facilitate transporting materials for building Aspall Halt.

The plan for the eventual running of trains and doubling the passenger experience will be a key part of ensuring the future of this unique piece of British railway history.
