MSDC grant aids destination station construction
The Chairman and Board of Trustees are delighted to announce that the Mid-Suffolk District Council has awarded a Grant of £9,622.08 from the Rural Cultural and Creativity Fund to the Mid-Suffolk Light Railway. This grant has made a real difference for the Mid-Suffolk Light Railway (MSLR) Museum in giving the project some seed money to kick-start the process of organising a complicated plan. The plan required the bringing together of many volunteers who carried out different tasks on a timescale that didn’t clash. The materials that the grant purchased all had to be used within the allocated timescale. This achievement helped us through this first complicated stage for opening of the Line Extension and building the new Platform. It has opened up the site for work to commence and is now safe to work on by volunteers to complete the next stage of constructing the new platform. It has brought forward the planned opening of the line extension so it can be safely used by trains and meets the standards set for Railways by the Office of Road and Rail where it crosses the Public Footpath 46
